DIPLOMATIC CORRESPONDENCE 00000000000340000023000000021

From: Srini Vas, Srini Vasson, Secretary
of State for International Trade, Volsung Confederation
Subject: Return of the BSSUVD starship Sanbourne
Obol II
Valued friend of the Volsung
Confederation,
Your diplomatic cable regarding the Sanbourne
Obol II incident, explaining the
nature of the cargo aboard the ship, is gratefully accepted. However after intensive investigation it appears that your Merchant’s benefactors have twisted their story.
VCN ships identified themselves and advised the Captain of the requirement for inspection of the Sanbourne
Obol II’s cargo. The decision to inspect the cargo was not taken lightly. Only after confirming transmissions between the vessel’s Captain and known terrorists from the self-styled Vishnu Faction on Kara was the decision reached. The interdiction occurred in Kara’s
territorial space well within the System Sphere recognized by Interstellar
Convention.
The violent reception that that our naval personnel
received, along with the transmissions between the ship’s captain, the illicit cargo
and the wiping of the ships log led our personnel to conclude that the Sanbourne Obol II was a smuggler.
In order to resolve the issue, the Volusung Confederation proposes the following: The Sanbourne Obol II will be turned over to the BSSUVD immediately
along with the crew. The cargo however,
will remain impounded until the BSSUVD, provides reparations to the families of
our naval crewman criminally slain by the crew of the Sanbourne Obol II. The
Captain and crew of the Sanbourne Obol II
are hereafter and forever banned from entering VC Space. If found within
any system or VC space their suspended sentence of death will be carried
out immediately.
Do no interpret our leniency as weakness. We simply do not believe that this incident
warrants additional measures as we believe our long relationship with the good
people of BSSUVD is important enough to overlook the grievous lapse of
judgement shown by a rouge officer in your Merchant Marine.
Fraternally yours,
Srini Vas, Srini Vasson, esq.
